Again we see the European style of blending compatible varieties – here Gwertztraminer with Savagnin, Riesling and Viognier but not from the same spot. The musk and rose of the first offers a delightfully fragrant temptation measured with a citrus under carriage. Very likeable, and fulfilling in the finish.

Heathcote Food & Wine Festival 4th&5th October

It was a rare opportunity to show our Trust shiraz at Heathcote this year. The 2011 Trust shiraz (100% Heathcote fruit) looked bright fresh and elegant alongside the other wines on show. For those interested in this wine it is now available alongside our current release, 2010 Trust Shiraz.

We have recently bottled our first vintage of this beautiful textual wine. Not one single variety but a blend of 4 different varieties each of which brings its own individual characteristic to the wine.

2003 The Don

We will also be making available through the Trust website small quantities of Don’s very special single barrel blend of shiraz. Made entirely from his own Crystal Hill vineyard, on the banks of the Goulburn River.

2010 Trust Shiraz

Coming from vineyards in Heathcote (52%) and the Goulburn Valley (48%), Trust’s 2010 Shiraz is deep garnet-purple in colour with fragrant aromas of ripe black cherries, black raspberries and mulberries over hints of violets, prunes and cinnamon stick. medium to full bodied, the palate is richly fruited with red berry preserve and baking spice flavours marked by a medium level of rounded tannins and crisp acidity, finishing long. Canberra Times Trust 2010 Review

Don Lewis and Narelle King, the winemakers behind Victoria’s Tar and Roses label, made their first Trust shiraz in 2004. King writes, “The fruit is mostly from Don’s vineyard, Crystal Hill, a hungry bit of dirt riddled with ironstone and quartz across the river from Tahbilk. It’s very low yielding and produces pretty special wine.” Certainly it did in 2010 … a rich but medium-bodied red with deep, earthy…savoury flavours, sympathetically cut with oak flavours and with a load of chewy but soft tannins providing the satisfying structure and finish.
